Armed Robbery At Cumbria Post Office

Officers are continuing to search the Frizington area of Cumbria following an armed robbery earlier today.

Police were called at 6.17am this morning with a report of a member of staff being threatened with a firearm at the Post Office on Main Street.

She was not hurt but obviously left distressed by the incident.

The offender left the scene with an amount of cash.

Detective Inspector Dan St Quintin said: "We take all incidents involving a firearm with the utmost seriousness, and have a number of resources in the area searching for this offender. We do not believe there to be any threat to the public at this time."

Anyone with information which may assist in identifying the offender is asked to contact Cumbria Police on 101.
