Arrest After Shotgun Discharged In Salford

A man has been arrested following a shotgun discharge in Salford.
At around 12.15am on Wednesday 17th February 2015, officers were called to Doveleys Road and FairfieldStreet area of Irlam O'th Heights following reports that several gunshots had been heard.
Officers attended and found spent shotgun cartridges and shattered glass.
A 23-year-old man was found with a minor injury to his waist caused by a shotgun pellet.
He was taken to Salford Royal, where he remains under arrest under Section 16 of the Firearms Act.
Doveleys Road and Fairfield Road are currently cordoned off pending further enquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Clare Devlin said: "At this time we do not believe that this incident was a random event.
"Extra patrols will be visible in the area to provide reassurance to the community.
"As a result of police activity in the area it is anticipated that there will be some disruption to traffic in the area which we will continue to monitor.
"We would encourage any members of the community who may have any information that may assist our investigation to contact us on 101 or via Crimestoppers."
