Crimestoppers Reward Offered After Fatal Shooting

18th September 2019

Following a drive-by shooting that led to the death of an innocent 24-year-old man in north London, Crimestoppers UK charity is offering a reward of up to £10,000 for information leading to the conviction of the murderers.

It's believed that Wilson Alexandre Garcia Varela was killed as a result of mistaken identity and that he was wrongly targeted by gang members.

The shooting occurred shortly before midnight on Sunday, 8 September on Malden Road, Chalk Farm, London, NW5.

The victim, who was from Forest Gate in east London, was found suffering a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene at 00:10hrs on Monday, 9 September. He left his girlfriend's house to buy some milk and minutes later his life was violently, and abruptly, ended.

He leaves behind a devastated family and partner who are wondering why he was taken from them. There have been no arrests and enquiries continue."We know that for some people, the truth may be close to home. It may be that someone you know personally was involved in serious violence. You may have a sense of loyalty to that individual but feel what they were involved in has crossed a line. You now want to do the right thing but are too scared to speak directly to the authorities.

"Please remember that Crimestoppers, as an independent charity, keeps its promise of 100% anonymity each and every day to those who trust us with their crime information. Share what you know by calling our UK Contact Centre on 0800 555 111 or using our anonymous online form here on our website. No one will know your identity.
