Essex Police Launch Murder Investigation

Essex Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a 64-year-old man in South Weald, Brentwood.
Officers were called just before 6.30pm on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 by the ambulance service after the body of a man was discovered by his family at an address in Sandpit Lane.
The man has been identified as 64-year-old John Palmer of South Weald.
A post-mortem examination was carried out on Wednesday, June 30, 2015and determined the cause of death as a gunshot wounds to the chest.
The murder investigation has been launched by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate.
DCI Simon Werrett, who is leading the investigation, said: "My team would like to speak to anybody who was around Sandpit Lane between 4pm and 6pm on Wednesday June 24. The area is rural but is often used by dog walkers and joggers.
"Did you see any people or suspicious vehicles in the area? Did you witness anything out of the ordinary?
"Officers are at the scene making enquiries and I would urge anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward."
