Gun Murder In East London

Detectives have launched a murder investigation following a shooting in east London.

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) at 22:10hrs on Tuesday, 21 March to reports of a man unconscious after being shot on Ilford Lane, at the junction with Bedford Road, Ilford.

Officers and the LAS attended and found a 19-year-old man suffering from gunshot injuries.

Paramedics provided first aid but the man was pronounced dead at the scene at 23:22hrs.

Formal identification awaits and next of kin are yet to be informed.

A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

At this early stage, officers believe the man was sitting in a car when he was shot.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating.
