Man Dead After Croydon Shooting

Detectives have launched a murder investigation following a shooting in Croydon.

Officers were called to the Function Rooms in Brigstock Parade on London Road in Thornton Heath at about 05:00hrs on Sunday, 27 November, to reports of a large fight.

A large number of people were present but no injured party was identified at that time.

A short time later, police received a call to a south London hospital after a 28-year-old man presented himself with a gunshot injury. He died on the evening of Tuesday, 29 November.

Whilst officers believe they know the identity of the deceased, formal identification is yet to take place.

Next of kin are aware.

A post-mortem examination will be held tomorrow, Thursday, 1 December.

The Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command (HMCC) has been informed and will now lead the investigation.

An incident room has opened under Detective Chief Inspector Tony Lynes.

Police believe the man sustained his injuries during the incident at the Function Rooms.

Detectives would like to speak with anyone who was at the Function Rooms or in the vicinity of Brigstock Road on Sunday morning.
