Man Shot In Leg At Smethwick Park

Detectives are appealing for information after a man needed surgery when he was shot in the leg at a Smethwick park on Friday( 26 June).
Police were called just after 7.15pm to reports that the man had been shot in the shin after an argument with another man at West Smethwick Park in Victoria Park Road.
An ambulance was called and the 38-year-old man was taken to hospital where he has undergone surgery and is now in a stable condition.
Officers believe the suspect and made off from the park on a BMX style bike towards Smethwick.
An investigation has been launched into the shooting and officers want to hear from anyone who was at the park at the time last night.
Detective Sergeant Chris Jones, from Force CID, said: "This was a serious attack and the victim is fortunate to only have suffered relatively minor injuries.
"A team of officers are now scouring CCTV cameras from the area and following up other lines of enquiry as part of our investigation.
"Offences involving firearms are rare in this area and I want to appeal to anyone who was at the park last night and saw anything suspicious to contact us as soon as possible on 101."
