Men Shot in Hamilton, Scotland

An investigation has been launched following a shooting incident in Hamilton on Monday 27 June 2016.
Officers from Police Scotland's Major Inquiry Team are conducting enquiries after two men were shot on a footpath between Millgate Road and Westwood Crescent in Hamilton.
A 26 year old man sustained injuries to his head, face and chest and was taken to Hairmyres Hospital where he is in a serious but stable condition. A 27 year old man received injuries to his face and head and was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where medical staff describe his condition as serious but stable.
The incident is believed to have occurred at 1430 hrs. Enquiries have revealed that two men were in the area at the time of the attack. Descriptions of both men are limited but the first man is described as around 5 ft 6 inches in height, wearing a balaclava and a dark coloured jacked. The second man is described as over 6 ft tall with short hair in a crew cut style.
Specialist search officers are examining the area and officers continue to carry out door-to-door enquiries, to try and establish the circumstances of what has happened.
Detective Inspector Grant Durie from the Major Investigation Team said:
"I would like to make it clear from the outset that we believe this was a targeted attack and that those injured were the intended victims. We are in the process of piecing together the circumstances of what has happened and are still reviewing CCTV footage and carrying out door-to-door enquiries to gather additional information. If you were in the area around the time of incident or you have any information or knowledge about the suspects or the incident then please do contact police.
Detective Inspector Durie continued: "Understandably, this incident will be of concern for local people and I would like to reassure them that additional officers will be in the area to provide reassurance. However, be assured, we are doing everything we can to locate those responsible and if you have any information then please do pass it on. A team of officers is dedicated to this investigation and we will use all available resources to trace those responsible for this attack."
