Second Man Arrested In Connection With Double Shooting

6th November 2015

Detectives have arrested a second man in connection with a double shooting in Birmingham that left one man dead and another critical in hospital.

The 25-year-old was arrested at an address in Birmingham yesterday (5 November) after specially trained officers carried out a firearms warrant.

He was interviewed and later released on bail with strict conditions. Another man who was arrested last weekend also remains on bail while enquiries continue.

Officers investigating the shooting, which happened in Soho Hill, Hockley, on Friday 30 October, can now name the man who lost his life as 25-year-old Derek Junior Myers from Birmingham (pictured).

A second man who was injured during the incident remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Detective Chief Inspector Caroline Marsh, who is leading the investigation, said: "We have a team of detectives working on this case to identify those who were involved.

"A man has lost his life and another remains critical in hospital and we would continue to appeal for anyone with information to come forward and contact us.

"If you were there or have been told anything about what happened, please get in touch."

Anyone with information that could help the investigation should contact DCI Marsh at West Midlands Police by calling 101 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
