Teenager Dies After Toxteth Shooting
4th June 2017
From Merseyside Police: At around 8.30pm on Saturday 3 June, a report was received from officers on patrol of a man being found injured on Tagus Street, to the rear of shops on Lodge Lane. Armed officers and the ambulance service came to the scene and an 18-year-old man was found. He has been taken to hospital where he died a short while later.
A post mortem will be carried out to establish the cause of death. House-to-house, CCTV and forensic enquiries are underway and high visibility patrols will be in the area to provide reassurance to the local community.
Chief Inspector Keith McLachlan said: "Our investigation is in its early stages but I would urge anyone who saw the incident or anyone acting suspiciously in the area just before 8.30pm to contact us immediately. Any information may be vital to finding those responsible and bringing them to justice.
"We are relentless in pursuing those who choose to bring firearms onto the streets of Merseyside. I am sure local people will be appalled that this has taken place in daylight hours.
"Information from the community will always be acted on, so help us remove those responsible and their weapons from the streets."
