Third Arrest After Man Found Dead In Wembley

Detectives from the SO15 Counter Terrorism Command have made a third arrest and a further arrest as they continue to investigate the murder of Abdulhadi Arwani on 7 April.

A 61-year-old man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder Abdulhadi Arwani was further arrested on Wednesday, 15 April on suspicion of the commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism. He remains in custody at a south London police station.

A 53-year-old woman was arrested in Brent on the evening of Wednesday, 15 April on suspicion of the commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism. She remains in custody at a south London police station.

Two searches remain on-going, including at the An Noor Cultural Community Centre. Officers are fully aware of the sensitivities of conducting this search at this time and would like to thank the local Muslim community for their support and patience thus far in the necessary investigations that have occurred to date. This remains a murder investigation and a search for the truth; it is therefore vital that the investigation is thorough which includes a detailed searches of premises.

Community leaders have actively provided advice and support throughout this investigation and continue to provide guidance in relation to the sensitivities of conducting the search at the An Noor Cultural Community Centre.

One man has been charged with the murder.

Leslie Cooper, 36 (15.8.78), of Nightingale Road, Brent, NW10 was charged on 14 April with the murder of Mr Arwani. He appeared the same day at Camberwell Magistrates' Court where he was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on Thursday, 16 April.
